•Quantitative 1H NMR metabolomics method showed increased plasma levels of BCAAs and AAAs in CHD patients with T2D.•CHD combined with T2D patients have changed cardiac energy metabolism and activated signaling pathways.•Altered amino acid metabolism might take part in the pathogenesis of CHD patients with T2D.
