Chemometric approaches for determining the geographical origin of Japanese Chardonnay wines using oxygen stable isotope and multi-element analyses

•δ18O and element analyses were used to identify domestic Chardonnay wines.•NMDS, KPCA and PCA were applied to wine δ18O values and element concentrations.•NMDS and KPCA separated domestic and imported Chardonnay wines better than PCA.•δ18O and element analyses will help verify the geographical authenticity of wine.
