Observations of ultrafast superfluorescent beatings in a cesium atomic vapor excited by femtosecond laser pulses

•Picosecond superfluorescence is measured by a high-resolution streak camera.•Superfluorescent beatings representing the Cs ground state splitting are observed.•Autocorrelations exhibit a beating representing the splitting of the Cs excited state.•In future, superfluorescent beatings may be used for rapid quantum operations.
