Eyler Editorial Fellow, and Kaitlin Marie Marquis, MD, is the 2021 RSNA William W. Olmsted Trainee Editorial Fellow.Both fellows will work with Radiology Editor David A. Bluemke, MD, PhD, and RadioGraphics Editor Christine (Cooky) O. Menias, MD. The Eyler fellowship lasts 1 month, and the Olmsted fellowship lasts 1 week. Each fellow will visit the RSNA Publications Department at RSNA Headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois. Dr Rajiah will also work with the RSNA editorial team during the 2021 RSNA Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.RSNA William R. Eyler Editorial Fellowship: Prabhakar Rajiah, MBBS, MDDr Rajiah is a professor of radiology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. He earned his medical degree from the Madras Medical College, Chennai, India. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the Barnard Institute of Radiology, Chennai, India. Following a stint in the United Kingdom, he moved to the United States and completed fellowships in cardiac and body imaging at the University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle. He also completed fellowships in cardiovascular and musculoskeletal imaging at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio.Dr Rajiah is a prolific writer with more than 170 peer-reviewed print and online manuscripts, nine books, and 48 book chapters. He has also edited six books and special issues of journals. Over the last few years, he has served as a reviewer for more than 30 scientific and educational journals. He has been recognized with editor recognition awards by Radiology and Skeletal Radiology. He serves as a member of the editorial boards of Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging and Cardiovascular Diagnosis and Therapy and as the associate editor of the Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography and Current Problems in Diagnostic Radiology. Dr Rajiah lectures nationally and internationally on cardiovascular and thoracic imaging. His research interests include multienergy CT and advanced cardiovascular MRI techniques.Academic publishing has been a big passion of Dr Rajiah throughout his career. “As an author, I enjoy every step of the publishing process, from the conception of an idea to the assembly of a team and resources, leading to the collection and synthesis of data, till it appears in its final written form ready for submission to a journal,” Dr Rajiah said.He believes that the Eyler fellowship is a great opportunity to navigate the editorial role and advance in academic publishing. “Radiology and RadioGraphics have been the reference standards for scientific and educational radiology publishing and have maintained a consistent high quality over several decades,” Dr Rajiah said. “The perspectives gained from this fellowship will improve the quality of my editing, reviewing, and writing.” Dr Rajiah intends to disseminate the knowledge gained from this fellowship in a way that fulfils the mission of the RSNA in furthering the field of radiology.David M. Bluemke, MD, PhD, Editor of Radiology, supports Dr Rajiah’s interest in medical publishing and editing. “The continued advancement of research and medical education in radiology will be driven in the future by radiologists like Dr Rajiah and the other impressive candidates for the Eyler Editorial Fellowship. I look forward to working with Dr Rajiah as he works with our team to promote science on the highest academic level and broaden his experience in medical journalism.”Dr Rajiah currently serves in the cardiac imaging subcommittee of the RSNA Annual Meeting Program Planning committee. He previously served as the chair of the RSNA Content Advisory Panel and as a member of the Education Committee. He has presented several presentations at RSNA annual meetings that have received awards including Magna Cum Laude, Cum Laude, and Certificate of Merit. For his educational contributions to the RSNA, he received the RSNA Honored Educator Award in 2014 and 2020. He also received the RSNA Research Trainee Prize in 2007 and the RSNA Roentgen Radiology Fellow Research Award in 2008.Those interested in the 2022 RSNA William R. Olmsted Editorial Fellowship for Trainees: Kaitlin Marie Marquis, MDDr Marquis is chief resident at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. She will be a cardiothoracic imaging fellow at Mallinckrodt in 2022. She earned her medical degree from University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), Kansas City, Kansas, and completed a transitional year internship at Mercy Hospital, St. Louis.Dr Marquis has a particular interest in medical journalism and the educational aspect of academic medicine. She served on the RSNA 2020 Annual Meeting RadioGraphics Resident Thoracic Imaging Subspecialty Review Panel, which gave her exposure to the editorial process. She is the author of several peer-reviewed manuscripts.“At this point in my career, I have been fortunate enough to work with RadioGraphics both as a content creator in publishing my own work as well as a content selector, and these experiences have provided important avenues for me,” Dr Marquis said. “The Olmsted Fellowship is a unique and special opportunity to further my development by gaining firsthand exposure to the intricacies of the publication process. Most importantly, I look forward to meeting the Radiology and RadioGraphics editors and learning from their invaluable expertise in the fields of radiology education and scientific publication.”Christine (Cooky) O. Menias, MD, Editor of RadioGraphics, looks forward to working with Dr Marquis in the coming months. “Dr Marquis is focused on pursuing an academic radiology career and contributing to the future of the specialty. Her role as this year’s Olmsted Editorial Fellow will give her a preview of the innovation, ideas, and research being shared with our journals community.”Dr Marquis served as the director of radiology at the JayDoc Free Clinic, a student-run clinic providing nonemergency urgent and preventative care to the uninsured and underinsured populations of Kansas City through KUMC. She was also the research coordinator for the Department of Otolaryngology at KUMC and served as a KUMC student ambassador.Dr Marquis’s education exhibits have been recognized with Certificate of Merit awards at RSNA 2020 and RSNA 2019.
