Application of silanized melamine sponges in matrix purification for rapid multi-residue analysis of veterinary drugs in eggs by UPLC-MS/MS

•The silanized melamine sponge was used in analysis of 54 veterinary drugs in eggs.•The fast matrix purification could be achieved within five seconds.•The convenient matrix purification was conducted by simply soaking and squeezing.•A total of ten veterinary drugs were detected in the tested 52 egg samples.
