De-novo FAIRification via an Electronic Data Capture system by automated transformation of filled electronic Case Report Forms into machine-readable data

•Most workflows to standardize data (FAIRify data) are performed after data collection.•De-novo FAIRification enables FAIRification during the process of a research project.•FAIRification via an EDC system can improve the FAIRification workflow’s scalability.•Our method transforms data entered in an EDC system into machine-readable, FAIR data.•Our method is generic and can be applied to other research projects.
