Perceptions of orthodontists, laypersons, and patients regarding buccal corridors and facial types

•Orthodontists were more intolerant of large buccal corridors.•Laypersons could not perceive the changes of the male model’s buccal corridors.•Orthodontic patients have a higher sensitivity to buccal corridors than laypersons.•Orthodontic patients are more tolerant of the dolichofacial type.
