•The integration of PlanetScope and Sentinel-2 improved the accuracy of vegetation classification.•Classification accuracy for integrated imagery was even greater than that with WorldView-2.•WorldView-2 performed best on classifying water and wetland vegetation.•DTM and GLCM-mean were the most important variables for vegetation classification.
