Successful treatment of calcinosis cutis with a topical sodium thiosulphate preparation containing 20% zinc oxide in a patient with sclerotic graft-versus-host disease

A 33-year-old female developed sclerotic graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) 2 years after allogeneic stem cell transplantation because of acute myeloid leukemia. Despite various systemic treatment attempts over more than 6 years (including glucocorticosteroids, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus, rituximab and imatinib) cutaneous sclerosis progressed continuously and resulted in a marked reduction of motility of the large joints.
