Residency program directors' perceptions about the impact of the American Board of Anesthesiology's Objective Structured Clinical Examination

•Over 90% of the program directors nationwide specifically prepared their residents for the ABA OSCE.•Nearly two-thirds of programs made changes to their residency curriculum due to the ABA OSCE.•Approximately 3 in 5 Program directors perceived the ABA OSCE measures skills essential to anesthesiologists' practice.•About half of program directors perceived the ABA OSCE to add value to the initial board certification process.
