•FAAM was translated and culturally adapted to Danish.•Measurement properties (construct validity) was assessed using Rasch analyses.•The original 29-item version showed misfit.•After removal of 7 items and adjusting for DIF a 22-item version showed good fit.•Results must be reported separately for the two domains: ADL and Sports.
