The invention discloses a method used for determining crustal stress direction based on routine uniaxial and triaxial compression test, and belongs to the field of crustal stress direction determination method. According to the method, it is confirmed by fracture mechanics theory that the direction of macroscopic cracks formed after loading destroy of uniaxial and triaxial compression test of rocktest pieces is identical to the direction of unloading cracks generated because of crustal stress release, and the crustal stress direction is determined through tests. The method comprises followingsteps: 1, on-site positioning and core collecting are carried out, obtained samples are processed, and after direction marking, the obtained test pieces are subjected to routine uniaxial and triaxialcompression test until destroy is realized; 2, pictures of the top end surfaces of the destroyed test pieces are taken; 3, the end surface intersecting lines are observed to determine the types; 4, corresponding angle measuring method is selected based on the types; and 5, the crustal stress direction is determined based on measured angles. The principles of the method are simple; operation is convenient; other individual crustal stress direction test operation is avoided; routine uniaxial and triaxial compression test results are obtained; and the wide popularization and application value ishigh.
