摘要
•A musculoskeletal model of the Thoroughbred forelimb was developed using AnyBody to test strain profiles of the tendons and ligaments of the caudal/palmar suspensory apparatus at trot and canter.•The model was developed from CT images of a Thoroughbred forelimb, muscle and ligament dissection, and muscle morphometry from direct measurements and values from the literature.•Four Thoroughbred horses were ridden at trot and canter through a calibrated measurement space and segmental motions of their right forelimb were recorded at 200Hz using motion capture.•Sagittal joint angles were used to calculate caudal/palmar tendon and distal ligament strains in the model.
