摘要
The proportion of females entering medical school in UK is almost 59% although it has varied between 50-60% over the last decade (1). The overall number of female consultant urologists in the UK has increased from 3% (1991) to 10.3% (2019), and although the number of consultants and trainees have both increased, a large gender gap still exists (2). Overall, 13.2% of consultant surgeons are female, and it varied from 7% in Trauma \u0026 Orthopaedics to 27% in paediatric surgery, with urology somewhere in the middle at 10.3% (2). A study of medical students and junior doctors suggested that females were less likely than males to choose urology as a career prospect.
