Triggering and protective factors of burnout in medical resident physicians in a lower-middle-income country: A cross-sectional study

•More than a third of medicine residents suffered from burnout in our setup.•We need to focus on rejuvenating activities to decrease burnout.•Support of friends, celebrating accomplishment and enough money may reduce burnout.•Burnout was more prevalent in women physicians compared to men physicians•Level 2 physicians had higher burnout compared to the other levels of residency
