•A long-term mini-invasive electrode anchor was assessed ex vivo and in vivo.•Tensile test following Design of Experiment provided a dislodgment force of 0.81 N.•A 1-year in-vivo experiment confirmed the long-term anchoring of the electrodes.•Mini-invasive implantation procedure would last 15 minutes, validated ex vivo.
