Organ Injury Scaling 2020 Update: Bowel And Mesentery

The 1990 Small Bowel and Colon Organ Injury Scales (OIS) were revised to incorporate the imaging (CT), operative and pathologic findings to better describe the level of injury. The new revised OIS separates blunt bowel injuries from penetrating bowel injuries due to differences in imaging findings. A new OIS was created for bowel mesenteric injuries.
