•Angiogenesis-related genes are important in the aggressive behavior of dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma.•RNA sequencing shows different gene expression in the two components of dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma.•Differences in heat shock protein expression in dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma suggest relevant treatment targets.
