Phase field simulation of the stress-induced α microstructure in Ti–6Al–4 V alloy and its CPFEM properties evaluation

摘要
•Compared with normal stresses, shear stress is more effective in accelerating the β→α transformation, and induces stronger variant selection favoring fewer variants, thus promoting intense micro-texture formation.•Different types of variant clusters are favored under tensile and compressive stress, while single or two variant cluster produced by shear.•The ultimate microstructure are determined by both the inter-variant and variant-external stress elastic interactions.•The mechanical properties of the microstructure with microtexture can also be evaluated after phase field simulation, based on a crystal plastic finite element model.
