Processing of Hf based bulk metallic glass through Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) process

摘要
•A process has been developed in the present study to prepare Hf55Cu28Ni5Al12 bulk metallic glass (BMG) alloy in bulk form.•Planetary ball milling, high energy ball milling and cryo milling were used to prepare BMG powder from melt spun ribbons.•Cryo-milled powders were found to be effective out of these milling methods.•MGs in bulk form with 99.8% density, was prepared using spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique.•Effect of pressure and temperature on the densification of BMG alloy in SPS has been studied in detail.•Hardness of SPS compacts were also studied in detail.
