摘要

•This study proposed user-defined walking-in-place gesture sets for VR locomotion.•The stepping-in-place (SIP) gesture performed the best for forward walking.•Step one foot then SIP, rock or stay gestures were good for non-forward walking.•The proposed gestures showed significant better performance than the existing ones.
