Superficial white-matter functional networks changes in bipolar disorder patients during depressive episodes

•The BDD patients showed increased FC between the superficial WM cerebellar network and the tempofrontal network (TFN).•The BDD patients indicated increased FC between the superficial WM pre/post-central network (PCN) and the TFN.•The altered FCs of CN-TFN and PCN-TFN could predict the numbers of depressive episode in BDD.
