Parametric analysis and failure mode of steel plate shear wall with self-centering braces

•Steel plate shear wall system that has self-centering and replaceable characteristics is developed.•Cyclic loading tests and destructive tests were conducted on six 1:3 scaled specimens.•Effects of various design parameters on hysteretic behavior of specimens are studied.•System exhibits stable post-yield stiffness, good self-centering and energy dissipation capabilities.
