•Non-flaked stones are poorly known in the Mesolithic of Italy.•We provide evidence for the use of Mesolithic non-flaked stones in the Adige Valley.•The assemblage from the Mesolithic Adige valley included active and passive elements.•Non-flaked stones were used to process plant foods and animal tissues.
