Patterning of Nano-Hydroxyapatite onto SiO2 and Electro-spun Mat Surfaces Using Dip-Pen Nanolithography

•Report formulation of nanohydroxyapatite (nanoHA) based ink for dip pen lithography (DPN).•30-50 % (wt/Vol) Glycerol in isopropyl alcohol is necessary to achieve the required viscosity of 5-15 cP for printing of nanoHA (3 w/v %)-formulated ink.•Ultra sonication of glycerol formulated nanoHA ink aided to disperse well the nanoparticles to get ~200 nm in size and helped in controlled printing•The optimal ink consisted of 30% glycerol and 3 w/v % nanoHA with printed features ranging from 745 – 1175 nm on a SiO2 substrate.•The development of a nanoHA ink for controlled DPN patterning onto electrospun mat will enable to study the single cellular interactions to nanoscale patterning on surfaces, including printed nanoHA-gradient-scaffold for interface tissue engineering.
