Mission Control: The Development and Centralization of an Integrated Communication Center to Facilitate Intra-Facility and Inter-Facility Patient Flow

Background: Patient flow is an inherently challenging process exacerbated by the demands of a busy pediatric academic center and seasonal illnesses. When patient flow is not optimized, it leads to delays in patient care, patient and staff dissatisfaction, and potential financial loss.
