Improved estimation of in vitro protein digestibility of different foods using size exclusion chromatography

•New SEC-based method was applied for estimation of protein digestibility.•SEC enables quantitative comparisons of protein digestibility in different foods.•The method gives insight into protein solubilization and breakdown during digestion.•The proposed SEC based methodology is reproducible and easy to perform.
