•This study compared TTE and CMR strain of subjects with MVP with/without MAD and controls.•Subjects with MAD had lower magnitude of circumferential and radial strains in the basal segments by CMR.•Strain imaging especially by CMR appears to be a valuable tool for evaluating regional LV dysfunction associated with MADrefe.
