The invention relates to the biotechnological field, in particular to an intervention target for preventing and treating IgA nephropathy and a detection method of the intervention target. The intervention target for preventing and treating the IgA nephropathy is formed through structural variation of a DEFA1A3 gene which stably exists in human whole blood and can be detected and comprises a total copy number of the DEFA1A3 gene, a copy number of a DEFA3 gene and a copy number of 4bp-lost (TATC) variation 211bp which is located in a second intron area are detected. The intervention target for preventing and treating the IgA nephropathy is a gene biological marker which can predict the IgA nephropathy incidence and long-term prognosis and plays a protective role both on the IgA nephropathy incidence and long-term kidney prognosis. The detection method of the intervention target for preventing and treating the IgA nephropathy has the advantages of being simple, easy to operate, accurate, reliable, low in cost and capable of being widely applied.
