摘要
•It is an intracorporeal medical device whose main function is to provide voluntary stool containment to ostomized patients.•The device is made of biocompatible medical-grade silicone approved for intracorporeal use and currently used in heart valves.•There is abundant evidence in the literature on this type of device and the material used, so the bioethics and biosafety research committee of the Hospital Juárez de México approved its placement directly in humans, omitting an animal study.•The device is placed inside the operating room using the same material that is used to make a stoma without this technology.•Through voluntary containment, the use of disposable bags currently used as technology is eliminated for this condition.•By eliminating the disposable bags, the lesions generated by the contact of fecal matter, and the glue of the bag directly on the skin are reduced. (contact dermatitis)•The hypothesis is that the quality of life will be increased in patients with devices.•Costs will be significantly reduced by eliminating the use of bags.•The patient reported in the study only had a follow-up for 3 months because she had a diagnosis of terminal can.
