摘要
•Many trials are conducted on patients at high risk of death.•Among these trials, functional patient outcomes are increasingly important.•When patients die, functional outcomes are “truncated due to death”.•Authors seldom state whether patients who die are included in treatment comparisons.•Most often, comparisons include only survivors, with potentially misleading results.•Recommendations are provided for reporting in these trials.
