•Many aspects of the growth of the human body have shown a nonlinear feature.•Entropy can analyze nonlinear time series in terms of irregularity and complexity.•Distribution Entropy (DistEn) showed high parametric consistency.•DistEn provided information about the irregularity of the movement pattern.
