Letter To The Editor: Using Classification Systems To Integrate Ecosystem Services With Decision Making Tools

•Classification systems require specific principles be met.•The MA and TEEB ES groupings (e.g. provisioning) do not meet these requirements.•MA and TEEB ES groupings are not synonymous with the CICES classification system.•Using ES groupings (e.g. MA and TEEB) creates numerous challenges.•Proper use of CICES or NESCS Plus classification systems can fix these problems.
