摘要

•A new kind of DESs were prepared from [emim]Cl and dicyandiamide (DCDA).•The physiochemical properties of [emim]Cl+DCDA DESs were characterized.•The SO2 absorption performance of [emim]Cl+DCDA DESs was investigated.•Highly effective, selective and reversible absorption of SO2 in DESs was achieved.•The underlying mechanism for SO2 absorption in DESs was examined in depth.
