2d Stacked Magnetic Pendulum Arrays For Efficient Ulf Transmission

A novel mechanical antenna called 2D stacked Magnetic Pendulum Array (MPA) is proposed for efficient generation and transmission of Ultra Low Frequency (ULF) radiation. 55 magnets are stacked in 11 rows with 5 magnets in each row. The array is enclosed in a solenoid which provides the excitation. The experimental demonstration is performed at a resonance frequency of 727 Hz and a quality (Q) factor of 94 is achieved. Moreover, measured results show 18 dB improvement in the transmission efficiency of the MPA compared to the efficiency of a single solenoid of same dimensions.
