Investigation on hygro-thermo-mechanical behavior of a UHSS gasket under radial mechanical loads

The hygro-thermo-mechanical behavior of a ultra-high strength steel (UHSS) gasket under radial mechanical loads is investigated. By adopting an appropriate displacement function, the displacement, strain, and stress distributions of UHSS gasket are solved by an analytical method. Numerical examples are carried out to discuss the influence of various factors to the hygro-thermo-mechanical behavior of UHSS gasket. Results show that changes of temperature, mechanical loads, and geometric shape will obviously affect the displacement, strain, and stress fields, whereas for a steady-state moisture field within a relative short period, the change of moisture condition rarely influence displacements, strains, and stresses.
