Synthesis And Photoluminescence Properties Of Novel Bisphenylene Crown Ether Conjugated Quinolin-8-Ol And Their Complexes

Two novel bisphenylene crown ether conjugated quinolin-8-ol derivatives (7a, 7b) and their zinc complexes were designed and synthesized. The structures of 7a and 7b were identified by UV-Vis, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, IR and MS techniques. The photofluorescence properties of 7a, 7b and their zinc complexes in solution were also studied. Their luminescent properties indicate that the emission wavelengths of 7a and 7b are at 460 and 467 nm, having a significant red shift compared to 2-methyl-8-hydroxyquinoline. The zinc complexes have weak light-emission at 562 and 565 nm respectively.
