Effects of declining oak vitality on ecosystem multifunctionality: Lessons from a Spanish oak woodland

•Seca is detrimental for the ecosystem multifunctionality of old oak stands.•Canopy effects (Seca-dependent and –independent effects) were related.•Ecosystem functions were more affected by Seca when defoliated trees were large.•Defoliation and tree dimensions modify canopy effects on ecosystem multifunctionality.
