Effect of a genetic marker for the GBP5 gene on resilience to a polymicrobial natural disease challenge in pigs

•Associations of marker WUR0000125 and its putative causative mutation for resistance to PRRS virus in the GBP5 gene were confirmed.•Marker WUR0000125 is also associated with resilience to a natural polymicrobial disease challenge that included PRRS virus.•The association of WUR0000125 with its putative causative mutation is not complete and should be monitored in each population.
