Distributed application of guideline-based decision support through mobile devices: Implementation and evaluation

•We developed and evaluated a new methodology for distributed decision support.•Patients are provided remote, distributed, mobile-based, local decision support.•A new methodology developed for plan projection from a central to a mobile engine.•The feasibility of the new specification process was validated using two guidelines.•Demonstrated the feasibility of distributed support to managing chronic patients.
