Psychogenic nonepileptic seizures: The effect of accurate diagnosis on cognition

•Patients with psychogenic nonepileptic seizures show improved cognition after an accurate diagnosis.•Specifically, executive functions, language, attention, and psychomotor speed improve in PNE patients.•Reduction in number of antiseizure medication is associated with improved cognition in PNES patients.•Patients with temporal lobe epilepsy had a cognitive stability at one year of follow-up.
