How curcumin affects hyperglycemia-induced optic nerve damage: A short review

•Although there are insufficient studies on how the optic nerve is affected by hyperglycemia, this process causes axon-myelin degeneration, microvascular and ultrastructural changes in the optic nerve.•Curcumin is effective in preventing the progression of diabetic complications and improving complications.•Curcumin has healing effects in optic nerve damage with its anti-oxidant properties.
