Senescent cells in rabbit, nutria and chinchilla testes—Results from histochemical and immunohistochemical studies

•In testes of mature rabbit, nutria and chinchilla, abnormal seminiferous tubules are present.•Senescence signal is located especially in cells of altered tubules.•Expression of senescence markers is the highest in nutria and chinchilla testes.•No species –specific differences in expression of apoptosis and autophagy markers are found.
