Study of the influence of etching mixture components on the frosted glass effect

•The influence of the components of etching mixtures was determined•The more favorable composition of etching mixtures was found•Changes of the amount of CaCO3, HCl, HF gradually/ linearly affect pitting sizes•The increase of NH4F content causes a non-linear change of a pitting size•The proportion of barium sulphate allows to obtain a pitting size of 5 μm.
