Rates and predictors of brief intervention for women veterans returning from recent wars: Examining gaps in service delivery for unhealthy alcohol use

•We examine rates and predictors of brief interventions (BI) for women Veterans.•Women Veterans with lower-risk alcohol use are less likely to receive BI.•BI is more probable from mental health program clinicians than primary care nurses.•BI is more likely from women Veteran program clinicians than mixed-gender program nurses.•Women Veterans with more health problems are no more likely to receive BI.
