Comparative characterization of eucalyptus fibers and softwood fibers for tissue papers applications

•Cellulose pulp fibers were related with tissue papers properties.•Tissue paper properties included softness, absorption and strength.•The experimental plan included representative hardwood and softwood market pulps.•Different pulps exhibited a broad range of morphological and chemical properties.•The most suitability pulps for different tissues were indicated.
