摘要
A 6 day old filly was presented in the Equine Clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Cluj-Napoca, for lameness and anorexia. The clinical exam on admission revealed persistence of the urachus canal, bronchopneumonia and severe lameness on the hind limbs, with SIRS symptoms. Samples from the joint fluid were sent to the laboratory, while waiting for the results, was carried out an emergency hydro-electrolytic resuscitation, and due to suspicion of R. equi infection, the filly was started on specific antibiotics. Evolution of the filly overnight was worse, so intra-articular treatment and regional perfusion, as well as plasma transfusions were initiated with success. The urachus was clamped. Laboratory confirms an intra-articular infection with R. equi. After a 4 weeks stay, at the owners wish the filly was discharged and continued the treatment at home. Checks from 1 month and then after 6 months confirmed the good prognosis, with complete recovery.
