摘要

•There are discrepancies between self-rating scale and observer rating scale in evaluating the severity of depression, but the reasons for this phenomenon are still unclear.•This is the first study to explore the discrepancy between HAMD-17 and PHQ-9.•Discrepancies occurred between the PHQ-9 score and HAMD-17 score, which were related to neuroticism, extraversion, dysfunctional attitudes and being a working professional.
