•A unit-cell based mesh generation method is developed for densely packed hollow fibers.•A mesh of packed hollow fibers is generated by assembling duplicated unit-cell meshes.•A runt-time for unit-cell meshing is (almost) independent of the number of fibers.•Cell interfaces are perfectly conformed and linked using the artificial mesh interface method.
