•An enhanced model of nonlinear restoring force is proposed to improve accuracy.•The rotational magnetic charge is presented to describe magnetic force accurately.•The trajectory method is used to reduce calculation error from axial displacement.•Experimental results verify proposed model for harvesting performance prediction.
